The first pieces of the perverse puzzle that is my pole desk. [Jun. 14th, 2012|07:59 pm]

The tripods will be replaced as soon as I can get to the hardware store and rig a crossbar for the little speakers to hang off of. (Not entirely into the technochrist imagery, but whatevs!) Many thanks to Ethan Schoonover for sharing his autopole setup and my dad for forgetting to take all of the expensive lighting equipment after the divorce.

Intriguing. I've been thinking about a standing desk at work. What was the main vertical from? (If you say stripper pole, that'd be hilarious.)

You could go orthodox on the crossbars and really mess with the imagery.

It's an floor-to-ceiling autopole. And I've already warned drunk Sam that it isn't to be used as a stripper pole when she gets back.

Most everything is the cheapest Manfrotto stuff I could find.

I recommend buying some antifatigue mats with the full intent of returning the ones that don't work and then just stacking them all in a big pile of comfiness.

I wondered about the pile of mats. Doesn't it make it hard to stand if you've got that many on top of each other?

The pads squish down more than I was expecting. Or maybe I'm just gained a lot of weight and am in denial.

There's a thick piece of wood between the cheap apartment carpet and the pads that improves the whole support-by-magically-moulding to my feet thing.

I assume barefoot or socks, no shoes?

After 10 years here, I've come to loathe cheap apartment carpet. I will never move to a place with wall to wall again.

No shoes. I'll probably do socks in the winter.

More importantly, how much longer until you buy a house?

Also, the hardest part was figuring out an imac to vesa to pole mounting that didn't cost $150+.
