There are precious few songs I have put on 'repeat one' and spent days marveling at.

One of those songs is The Get Up Kids' cover of Alec Eiffel. It instantly brings me back to the countless lake-effect blizzards and silly smallliberalartsschool romances that was my time in Kalamazoo (1997-1999).

So I recently found out about this reputable studio over in Eudora (about fifteen minutes east of Lawrence). They started doing some 4-person recording workshops in May. So I emailed the studio manager-type about attending one in January.

Well, I researched it and found that TGUK and their producer-type bought this studio in 2002. And the studio manager-type I emailed was TGUK's bassist. I knew TGUK was from Lawrence/Kansas City, but yeah, it's still feels awfully weird to email someone I respect without actually realizing who they are.

Also, the guy that's fixing my tape echo is the guitarist of this band whose lead singer I interviewed last year. And I even saw them open a show. Maybe the show I met alabama_grrrl at.

Anyway, today I learned that I need to start googling people sooner, not later.
