Speaking of death, sorry about your car.

I assume you're not considering a motorcycle or a scooter.

Yeah, I live in a very small city, so the scooter is doable even in 40°F like today.

Oh! Let me use my degree! Let me use my degree!

Speaking of island:

Did you know the "s" isn't supposed to be there? Six-year-old English speakers (er, spellers) everywhere have the right idea!

Some hotshots who were testing out the idea of standardization mistakenly thought it was a cognate of the Old French isle and added the "s" to be "more correct." But Old English iȝland developed independently (not always spelled with the yogh, either).

So now Modern English has an "s" in island and Modern French dropped it with île.

Oh, English. You silly Germanic goose.

Re: Oh! Let me use my degree! Let me use my degree!

P.S.

Not all browsers support the code I used for the yogh. Or something. I look like my icon when it comes to computers.

Basically it's supposed to look kinda like a lower case cursive case "z." Wikipedia article.

I can also tell you where "lower case" comes from, if you're really bored!

Re: Oh! Let me use my degree! Let me use my degree!

Probably not within the next year.

The very few trips I can afford (commitment-wise) to make have already been decided: Kentucky in April and Alaska in July.

Don't know what I'll do for the holidays, but I'm going to be really busy here.

Wanna come to Kansas? ;)

That's so awesome. And those are good prices for renting a whole island. or so it seems to me.

Yup, just need to get friendly with a dozen or so hedonists and we're talking one good week-long bender.
