KITTEN ATTACK !!!

I finally found an old camera power adapter cord, so I took some pictures of myself and the cats with my trusty old Canon G1 and a color flash. I then spent some time with them in Photoshop. I'm kind of excited about this look.

Might I suggest onetake 064 as a soundtrack to perusing this post?

(Probably the most laidback, sittin'-on-the-porch-type of recording I have ever made.)

very very nice effects - please explain more detail about how you did it (if you are okay with giving away your secrets to fellow photography nerds) :)

No problem.

It's just this http://www.livejournal.com/users/natehaas/523957.html and Photoshop.

You can actually "see" the flash in frame in the last one.

Did that answer your question?

It doesn't have to be nice.

I just fire off my cheapo flash (or a flash slave) by hand during a long exposure.

Thanks!

It took me a while to figure out what was going on with the reflection of ambient lights in the kitten's eyes. Is this called slow sync, leaving for shutter open for a second and using a flash?

Well, it only took me six years to figure out how to do it. (With that flash, those gels, that camera and photoshop).

And thanks for the nice post too.

I see Asa noticed it as well, but I was going to ask if your studio is set up in the bathroom, or if that keyboard was just in there for practice.

Practice.

It's a Casiotone toy keyboard without a line out, just a speaker. So it gets the knocked over in the middle of the night by the kitten or girlfriend bathroom duty.
