Though my legs are achin', my first soccer match (in twenty years?) was a lot of fun.

I got a tremendous amount out of it, mindset-wise.

ps I'm still kinda shaking from the nervousness of walking out on the field. I know have some potential to be an asset for the team, but I end up missing the ball when I try to kick it half the time. At least I don't score on my own team.

Within the first minute, I ended up tripping some old guy. He fell right on his face. I felt bad and apologized to him. He looked at like I was crazy and said something friendly that I didn't hear as I ran after the ball. I have no idea how to handle situations like this, but I am learning. Like I found out you can help them up afterwords. Do they make a soccer ethics primer?

Also, as I was trying to catch my breath and see one soccer ball rather than four, I looked up and saw an entire flock of small, black birds in air above the field. The all moved together, but struggled against the wind on their own. I don't think anyone else noticed them. I thought of the cellular automata-type stuff involved with the flock and the soccer game. But then it was my turn to play again.

In a strong wind, it's nice to have a flock.

You mean when did I became an old man?

I don't think I have yet. There's always been an adult voice inside me I've always cheerfully ignored. Yeah, I'm getting there though.
