Thoughts from putting together my Geography of Hip Hop lesson plan:

1 Buying clean versions of 2 Live Crew is just wrong.
2 Thank god for dead prez (don't miss their Hell Yeah (Pimp The System) video) and OutKast for making the south look like more than a nation of crunk.
3 Where's Aspen hip hop at?
4 Yay, Northern State.
5 I'm in love with Madlib.

I swear #3 was Seattle hip hop a moment ago and I was about to answer seriously.

ANYWAYS, Seattle hip hop is pretty political from what I've heard of it. That's not a big surprise I guess.

Blue Scholars is the only group I've heard much of, I like it alright. It's fun when hiphop references the street you live on, y'know?

Of course there's always Sir Mixalot.

Re: !

I don't know what you're talking about....

okay, yeah I changed after I found out there was a scene there.

Before it was Seattle it was Colorado.

Hmm... blue scholars... i'll look them up.

I didn't even realize Northern State was a hip-hop. I was so immediately turned off by the painful over-production of their promotional photo when I saw it in a CD store, I never bothered to find out what their act was.

Let's just say the promotional photo is a very hard thing to do.

I'm starting with Rapper's Delight and it's for the geography class I teach at the continuation school.
