Andrew and I sang and beatboxed (respectively) at an open mic in Eureka tonight. Has-Beans was full of very supportive grandparent types. It went well, especially considering we did it without any electronics. Not even an amplifier.

Yeah. And I definitely can't belt it out like Andrew can.

So I have officially broken myself into performance.

(No recording was made.)

I think it takes balls to do something you know is impermanent. Until the 20th century, that was the nature of performance.

There's also the recording obsession that leads to the oddity of experiencing the world from behind a video camera, so "you won't miss anything." Whenever I have a camera with me, I'm constantly thinking about taking pictures, instead of simply enjoying myself. We've all become obsessed with recording our lives.
