I took another nap.

And Schwarzenegger became governor.

No more naps.

Just went to what is said to have been the first conservative guest speaker at HSU in five years.

Now, to give you some context:

1 This is a town where it's now illegal to comply with the Patroit Act.
2 It was held by the HSU Republicans (all two of them! 'k, not really.) and Young America's Foundation. As the principal outreach organization of the Conservative Movement, the Foundation introduces thousands of American youth to these principles, reads a description from their website.
3 Politically and culturally speaking, we are his ‘Skokie’.

So anyway, Dan Flynn wrote Why the Left Hates America: Exposing the Lies That Have Obscured Our Nation's Greatness. And he is one of the shallowest thinkers, these libertarian ears have ever heard.

His ‘strawmen’ arguments – which centered around generalizations of fictional peoples, taking Chomsky out of context, or replaying audio tapes of weirdos at International ANSWER's anti-war rallies – are not even worth refuting here. Any argument he had going was immediately negated when he stated that all were Black Panthers crack-smoking rapists. Oh, and he's a white male by the way.

But what is interesting to me is that he can go around the country, either bringing focus to or just inventing weaknesses in the left's argument, and that is how he makes his living. He was a Marine for 12 years, but now he goes around the country trying to make the left look dumb. This brings up all sort of questions for me, but really it reminds of the best political theatre I've ever seen.

And it even happened to be at an ANSWER rally in downtown San Francisco.

There was this guy walking around dressed up in a buttoned-up white oxford and tie, slacks and dress shoes. Now he didn't really fit in with the NorCal hippies, college-aged communists and Marin County families to begin with, but he was also just covered in blood. Soaked and dripping. All over his body. Head to wingtip. And while everyone else was chanting the various Bush Sucks and Stay Out of Iraq chants, he would run up to you, stare you right in the eyes and exclaim 'Everything is okay! There is nothing wrong! Everything is O K A Y !'

It was awesome. And that's really what this guy tonight reminded me of.

Cause even when the greatest nation in the world perpetuates racism, it's still racism.
