My dad called me. Pretty unusual, especially in the midst of his busy work day.

He called to thank me for leaving some fifty odd recent prints taken with my nicer camera.

And he sounded different. Not awkward really, just maybe a little proud.

He takes a lot of pictures when he travels around the world for work. With his slew of Nikon branded stuff. And he collects old working Leicas, model trains and tin soldiers. The stuff he couldn't afford as a kid, but he can now.

He also gave me my first advice on taking pictures, something about people being the only good subjects.

I told him I would see him Sunday if my flight didn't get too delayed.

And I'm really trying not to build up too much hope here, but it'd be nice to be able to talk about photography and pictures we've taken with my dad.
