Saw Knocked Up with Thomas and Emily.

On the drive home, I brought up what I see as Apatow's abandonment of style when he goes for gag or an emotion that he is deeply in love with. I ended up saying that his style is largely incidental.

A few hours later, I'm listening to him talking on Fresh Air about why movies like Tootsie are inspiring to him. He says they are both effective and non-cinematic. A much better explanation than mine.

Seems like this stuff is only important if you're completely obsessed with how creators and artifacts relate to each other. Or maybe film makers. I don't know, it has always interested me.

hey! neat! that trailer was painful, and i'll probably never see it, unless it's running free on cable - but IF I DO, I will remember what you said.
